FAQ

What are Widows in Silent Hill: Townfall?
The enemy type of Richard's Part 5 section inside CEG HQ — ambushers that favor corner attacks and a stabbing pounce when your back is turned. Killable, unlike the effectively invulnerable Weight.
How do you silence Widows in Townfall?
The Shotgun Richard picks up on Floor 2 is the reliable answer — Widows close distance quickly. Silencing 30 of them earns the Missing The Point Entirely trophy, and a single playthrough doesn't hold enough Widows, so the counter carries into New Game+.
Should you fight or avoid Widows in Townfall?
Depends on your ending: kill-count feeds the Discoveries-versus-Kills ratio, so low-kill runs should evade them where the tower's route allows. If you're chasing the 30-silence trophy or playing normally, the Shotgun makes them manageable.

What are Widows?

Widows are the enemy type of Richard’s playable section — the creatures that stalk the tower’s floors during Part 5 inside CEG HQ. Where the Weight is a scripted pursuer you escape, Widows are repeatable combat encounters: they favor corner ambushes and a stabbing pounce when your back is turned, and they close distance fast enough that running is rarely clean in the tower’s corridors.

How do Widow encounters work?

Two behaviors to read. First, they stage from corners and doorways — a Widow you haven’t seen yet is the dangerous one, so corner-check before crossing thresholds and keep the CRTV raised in unfamiliar corridors. Second, the back-turned pounce: turning your back to a live Widow invites the stabbing attack. When one reveals itself, keep it in front of you and either commit to the fight or break line of sight fully — half-measures get you stabbed mid-retreat.

What is the best way to kill them?

The Shotgun — which Richard picks up automatically on Floor 2 of the tower — is the reliable answer, per release-week walkthroughs. One important trophy wrinkle: Missing The Point Entirely requires silencing 30 Widows, and a single playthrough does not contain enough of them, so the counter is designed to carry into New Game+ rather than finishing inside Part 5. Cumulative counters persist across runs, so every Widow you silence counts permanently.

Should you fight or evade?

Read your ending first. Every Widow silenced feeds the Kills side of the Discoveries-versus-Kills ratio — if you’re steering toward Justice, evade where the route allows and let the shotgun stay holstered. If you’re on the Abandoned side or a 30-silence trophy run, Part 5 is where the grinding starts. The full walkthrough maps which Widow encounters are forced and which floors let you slip past, so a low-kill run can plan the route before the tower. The rest of the roster — Lunger, Sorrowful, Fallen and the Weight — is on the all monsters page.
