FAQ

What is Clara Woods in Silent Hill: Townfall?
The residential estate at the heart of Part 4 — a union town district tied to St. Amelia's labour conflict with the CEG. It contains the three Brae houses, the CEG Employee Lockers and the Lost and Found.
Where is the ending save point in Clara Woods?
At the end of Part 4 — make a manual save at a telephone by dialling 100 once Chapter 10 wraps. That save is the branch point that turns four of the five endings into reloads.
How do the Brae houses work in Townfall?
Three upper-level houses — 5 Brae Street, 6 North Brae and the tape house — each hide a safe whose code comes from that house's puzzle. The safes hold barcodes, and the locker building's scanner turns each barcode into a locker PIN.

What is Clara Woods?

Clara Woods is the estate the union built — and the place where St. Amelia’s fight against the Chapman Energy Group turned ugliest. Part 4 (chapters 9–11, including “Begin Again” and “Missing Parts”) plays out across its streets, and it marks the moment the game stops teaching and starts testing: Lunger rushes and Fallen ambushes in the densest numbers yet, and roughly twenty effectively forced kills across the district. The estate map is attached to the Clara Woods sign where the road splits.

How does the house-to-locker chain work?

Clara Woods is built around one mechanical idea: barcodes scanned at the locker building print locker PINs. The Lost and Found locker (772, from the locker building’s computer) holds the South Brae House Key, and the Brae houses’ safes each yield a barcode that the counter scanner converts into a locker PIN:

Lock Code Clue source Contents
CEG Lost and Found locker 772 Computer note in the locker building South Brae House Key
5 Brae Street safe 956 MANUAL.EML printout (floppy repair) Barcode (South Brae)
6 North Brae safe 736 Lamenting Poem — the paintings’ item counts Barcode (North Brae)
Tape-room safe 129 Current Count file on Tape: Yesterday Barcode (Upper Brae)
CEG Locker 75 184 Barcode found at the scanner itself Flare Gun
CEG Locker 17 575 Barcode (South Brae) Boltcutters
CEG Locker 94 490 Barcode (Upper Brae) Mechanical Part
CEG Locker 204 971 Barcode (North Brae) Mechanical Part

The full derivation of each code — including the floppy-disk repair, the poem and the tape chains — is on the locker codes page, and the Part 4 walkthrough runs them in route order.

What is the gate device?

The estate’s story gate is literal: a Constructed Mechanical Device assembled from three Mechanical Parts — two from lockers 204 and 94, the third behind the South Brae House Key. Inserting it into the Strange Gate’s pipe structure opens the way to CEG HQ — and pops Key To The Castle, the trophy for unlocking the path to the tower.

Why does the end of Clara Woods matter so much?

Before you leave the estate — once all three Mechanical Parts are in hand and the device can be built, before inserting it into the Strange Gate — dial 100 at a telephone and make a manual save. This is the branch point for the endings: reloading from here lets you steer Discoveries versus Kills into Forever or Abandoned without replaying the first ten chapters. Skip this save and the endings cost a full extra run — it is the single most valuable phone call in the game.
